Fellow artist and friend Kay Falkenhagen came up with the original concept for this painting. I made some changes to her concept to give it a more masculine look, including changing the shape of the candle holder and adding different leaves and colors to the vase and table top. Without her help, this feeble attempt at a still life wouldn't have turned out nearly as well as it did.
