The customer who commissioned this oil painting wanted me to include a whitetail deer he had shot in Indiana, and that is the deer in the foreground. Naturally, all that was left of that particular deer was his head mounted in the customer's family room, but now the deer will live on in this painting. The scene is late fall, the first snow has fallen on the harvested cornfield, and the whitetails are venturing out from the surrounding forest and into the open.
