I know the name "Chapel Lair" is an unusual one for a landscape, but the large rock by the downed tree is where my son-in-law proposed to my daughter, and this painting was done to commemorate that event in their lives. The actual location is next to the chapel area at the Lair of the Bear in the Sierra Mountains of central California.
