Jonathan Swift (Oil)

This painting was done for a good friend of mine who owned and raced this 60-foot racing yacht for 13 years in and around San Francisco Bay. The Jonathan swift was built in Holland in 1938, and spent World War II at the bottom of a pond to keep the Germans from getting their hands on it. It was raised and refitted after the war, and was eventually acquired by Mel Frazee, who sailed and raced it in the bay for over 13 years. After it was sold, the name was changed to the Isis, and the wooden decks were replaced with steel. It can still be seen sailing the waters under the Golden Gate Bridge.
