THE GUARDIAN

During the late 1800’s, the Marshal was the sole guardian of the rule of law and the only one standing between law abiding citizens and criminals in the western territories.  He traveled long distances, worked long hours, and endured many hardships to bring the lawless to justice.  Sometimes, as depicted in the background of this painting, he had to put some six feet under, either by gun or by rope.
